Our district's education foundation outlined a contest where each school creates a video that showcases their students, represents the foundation's theme for this year of "inspire," and follows an interesting list of criteria (include different things like a balloon, a pencil, markers, a dance move to name a few). Being the art teacher with a background in video from art school, I was obviously tasked with this project. I started it as a sketchbook prompt for my 2nd through 5th grade students, where they drew and discussed "What inspires you?" From there, I picked several students that would be featured in the video, and went on to film throughout the school.

I used an instrumental remix of the song "White Knuckles" by OK Go, and while the video did not win the contest, it received tons of praise for the work my students and I put into this project.
